Hey there 👋
I’m gonna go right ahead and make the assumption that you, like me, have officially had enough with end-of-year roundups, hot takes on [insert topic here], 2024 content marketing predictions, and that kind of stuff.
So instead, here is a playlist to accompany your last few working days of 2023. It’s a collection of all the songs my podcast guests picked throughout season 1 when I asked: “What’s a song that’s guaranteed to put you in a good mood?”
There are some timeless bangers, a lot of joyful tunes, and a couple of unexpected wtf moments as well. Here’s who you can thank (or blame) for getting them stuck in your head:
Tommy Walker → Ice Ice Baby, Vanilla Ice
Chima Mmeje → I Want to Break Free, Queen
Ryan Law → Kiss from a Rose, Seal
Rand Fishkin → Thunder Road, Bruce Springsteen
Mariya Delano → Feel Good Inc., Gorillaz
Ramli John → Happy, Pharrell Williams
Tracey Wallace → Friends in Low Places, Garth Brooks
Jakub Grajcar → Strong Reflection, Mars Red Sky
Alina Benny → Arrival of The Birds, The Cinematic Orchestra
Vinnie Wong → Busy Earnin’, Jungle
Lily Ugbaja → Taking Care, Moses Bliss
Rosanna Campbell → Son of a Preacher Man, Dusty Springfield
Joei Chan → Everything is Awesome, Tegan and Sara
Dozie Anyaegbunam → Bandana, Fireboy
Tawni Sattler → Oxford Comma, Vampire Weekend
Michaela Cavallaro → Wilco (The Song), Wilco
Ashley Faus → Defying Gravity, Wicked Broadway Cast
Eric Doty → Thong Song, Sisqo
Maeva Cifuentes → Stay Together for The Kids, Blink 182
Ronnie Higgins → Complicated Life, Preservation Hall Jazz Band
Ann Handley → All Too Well (10 Minute Version), Taylor Swift
fio → Only Murders in The Building - Main Title, Siddhartha Khosla
And that’s a wrap for the year!
I’m getting ready for my bi-annual trip to Italy, so I’ll be taking a loooong break from newslettering & podcasting to refocus all of my attention on some Very Important Things → 🍕 🍝 🍷 🍦 ⛷️ 🧘♀️ 📚 ♥️
See you at some point in 2024,
PS: season 1 of the contentfolks podcast ended today, and I’m still all sorts of amused that the final episode featured… my mother?!? She’s an excellent reminder that we often live in a work-related echo chamber: the woman couldn’t care less about content marketing—which made her the perfect guest, after all.
